Why is my thumb swollen and warm?

Question: Working on goods brakes. Using thumb to push excessively against a spring. Next day side of thumb is out, very sensitive to touch, hurts, and is hot. No cuts or abbrasions. Feels like I've burned it. Refrain from!

Answer: It's feverish. try taking an anti-inflammatory, such as Ibprofuen or something like that. if it hurts to move it and such, wrap it in gauze/cotton, and either band it to your hand with sport/medical tape or get a thumb splint at your regional pharmacy. Might have them at a store

Former teacher recycles sweaters and jackets, makes mittens

A former Century Stiff School teacher has bought more than 1,000 sweaters. But she's never worn one of her garage mark-down or thrift store purchases.

Instead, Georgia "GeeGee" Anderson, 62, removes the buttons, pockets and seams and cuts the textile into mitten shapes. The retired home economics teacher started making mittens from recycled sweaters and rip off jackets about two years ago.

She wanted to create quality, warm and ingenious homemade mittens for friends and family and has now made more than 600 mitten pairs. At Arrogance of Dakota's Holiday Showcase in Bismarck, Anderson said she was overwhelmed and sold more than 400 Mittens by GeeGee.

"You are a mitten freak," Anderson's son, Brett, told her. After she gave him a pair of mittens, he asked for another because the homemade mittens were warmer than a pair off he bought for $60. Anderson decided to sell her mittens because, she said, distinction hand warmers are hard to find.

Anderson retired from Century in 2007. She taught forge and foods classes for 28 years.
