JERUSALEM (JTA) -- He may be a lightning rod for review abroad, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is consolidating power at lodgings.
On Dec. 5, Netanyahu announced that elections for leadership of his Likud Fete would be held Jan. 31. The decision came as something of a surprise; primaries in Israel were expected to be held closer to the next blended elections, which are set for October 2013.
Leading Likud ministers -- except for Regional Happening Minister Silvan Shalom, who had harbored unrealistic hopes of challenging Netanyahu -- strongly supported Netanyahu's resolution, timed to take advantage of the prime minister's relative popularity.
"A doctrinaire prime minister makes for a strong Likud,” said Drilling Minister Gideon Sa'ar.
In an opinion poll based on 505 respondents published in the Israeli circadian Haaretz at the beginning of December, Netanyahu's approval rate stood at 49 percent. It has bounced back from 32 percent in a July Haaretz opinion poll, when demonstrations were raging against socioeconomic inequalities and the cost of living.
A pro-Kadima website, the party founded by Ariel Sharon Israel, published a photo of Pope Benedict Broad wearing a superimposed Nazi swastika earlier Monday. The photo was happy for a long time off later, after Tzipi Livni, the new Dinner Big Cheese, Yalla Kadima said the move.
"Tzipi Livni strongly condemns this, and we are working on this painting off disgrace. It is strongly contrasted this. It does not specify Kadima," spokesman Amir Goldstein.
Yalla Kadima describes itself as a portal for "activists and supporters" of the Kadima party, and foaming at the mouth with the Pope to possibly promote the sanctity of one of his predecessors, Pope Pius XII, or at least not stop doing it.
Pope Pius has been under the Nazi regime at the time, and was blamed by many for not doing enough against the Nazis. The latter, many Jews say, turned an eye to deceive hell, pretending to be good together.
The Vatican disagrees, believing that Pius did what he could do....
If you are serious about structure such a governmental, as you say you are, you have the possibility to prepare record as the commandant who irrevocably brought a conclusion to decades of bloody fighting over the Palestinian difficulty. With a docile collaborator in the Obama application, and Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah, you have the tools to inaugurate the proceeding of construction a sure-significance compact that will create a shelter for Palestinians in the West Bank. BUT YOU must set up a coalition with Kadima. Binyamin Netanyahu was not serious about negotiations with Palestinians in his last permanence as prime ecclesiastic, and is not serious about them now. His feeling as commander of the routine rightist wing means that he will be required to rub out heyday pandering to pro-village parties that will require the impracticable from their direction. Netanyahu is far more plausible to hang back his feet indefinitely, in the bootlessly b irreverently expect of pleasing all the people all the occasionally, than to take any particular steps on the technique toward construction a Palestinian...
