Lawyers have been taking depositions the past two months of a Lee County housekeeper who alleges Santana sexually assaulted her at a Fort Myers provinces club in October 2009. Santana, a pitcher for the New York Mets, is expected to take care of a Tuesday mediation between the two sides.

Santana was investigated but never charged criminally. He has filed a defamation countersuit, alleging the abigail is extorting him after a consensual sexual encounter.

Due to the nature of the sexual battering allegations and the ongoing status of the civil case, the Daily Information is withholding publication of the woman's name at this time.

"(The plaintiff's) sole long in making up these allegations was to extort Santana to pay (the plaintiff) substantial sums of legal tender to avoid having her contrived allegations made public," Santana's lawsuit says.
