The Wonderful Bowl, or as many advertisers call it due to the lofty cost of being an NFL sponsor, "The Big Game," is one week away. There's an underlying disquisition that needs to be acknowledged in the midst of all the hysteria, hype and hysterics: Uninitiated New England sports fans are so flipping lucky!

Between the Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and Red Sox, there are seven championships since 2001, and nine appearances in a championship occupation. Every time a kid in New England with an eye for sports turns on the TV, the glare of the Lombardi Souvenir, Lord Stanley's Cup, the World Series trophy, or the Naismith Remembrance Trophy is hitting him or her in the eyes.

How many of you have more championship season highlight DVDs in your cat-house free than electrical outlets? Me, too.

While this is an exciting time for all these young fans who entertain the idea a bad season is merely making the playoffs and not advancing beyond the first round of the playoffs, their sporting balance could be at risk when all this winning goes on sabbatical. It can't last forever, and you can't expect it to. You have to take these moments, but be prepared to ride the wave.
