The Rochester lacrosse community is sorrow the loss of 12 year old Tyler Kopp of Brighton who passed away Tuesday, days after being struck in the box by a lacrosse ball during a game.

Tyler was playing the game he loved when the accessory happened last Thursday at the Total Sports Experience in Gates.  He collapsed and was rushed to the polyclinic.  The seventh grader died from his injury after five days of fighting.

His old man Brian wrote, "Tyler had a great sensitivity toward others, a fierce tenacity and a strong competitive fire.  He was the iconic boy - loving sports, the outdoors, and playing with his friends.  The Kopp one's own flesh extends its deepest gratitude to those who kept Tyler in their thoughts and prayers and supported us during the years few days."
