Is Debeers a considered a natural monopoly or just a plain monopoly?

Question: Did they become a monopoly by having command over the diamond mines? Please explain a natural monopoly in modest terms.


Answer: unsophistical monopoly means it would cost too much to have two firms doing same item. Like drinking water supply - it would cost a ton to enlarge a second network of pipes.

De Beers Millennium Collection blue diamond is auctioned

Lewd diamonds are among the rarest of all gems and owe their real depressed color to the poise of the chemical component boron during the stones array. This  untarnished pear-shaped smutty diamond that was once part of the storied De Beers Millennium Chrestomathy, is now sold for $6.4 million at auction in Hong Kong to London-based gem agent Alisa Moussaieff.

This internally unblemished Illusion Bright 5.16 ct chap-fallen diamond is one of twelve gems from The DeBeers apart from millennium gleaning that took decades to call. This stone is the first diamond of its gentle to manifest at an auction from the whip-round that De Beers presented in 2000 to make merry the millennium.
